number 1: kayak

After feeling all hyped up, I feel bummed when i look out of the window and see heavy rain pouring down. Now, that didnt matter if i was planning to stay at home the whole day(like what always happens. heh.) but today was made for outdoor activity number 1 with the nie ladies. So after several exchanges of sms while i was on my way to tamp, we all kinda decided that we should just go ahead with it and hopefully the sun starts to shine again. At least we had our wet weather programme in hand.
The wet weather programme was pool at safra tamp, which was very close to sarah's hse and by the time the game ended with me and shaheeda on the winning end, it was shining outside so decided to make out way to bedok reservoir. HAHA! we wanted to get our arm muscles working and soak under the sun. It was KAYAK-ing. kayak virgin i am. We walked all the way from safra and as we got closer and closer and i began to see people/ groups of people paddling in their small boats, my heart began to race very fast. I've never touched a kayak or a paddle to say the least what more hop into one. That thing is heavy! we had to drag it down quite far from the station and in pairs began to make our way to the water. Sarah was my lovely partner but we both kept going in all directions(hah! even 360degrees). Ain briefed us all about working the paddle and how to stop the kayak coz she's experienced among us all. Mini race- lost. It was only an hour, but enough to make my legs and arms ache like hell. Those dragonboaters are super fit maaaaan. Or maybe we should have done warm-up exercises. Back to shore, The uncle tending the stall was kind enough to lend us props for our mini phototaking session, even directing us to the appropriate spot.
So much fun, The whole gang has to come along next time!!!
Hungry stomachs after, we had a hearty lunch at simpang bedok, mad jack. We clearly deserved it as we dropped three stops away from the actual busstop. But we chit-chatted so much, it just feels so much nearer. The warm brownie really summed up the meal well and the sugar-rush was fantastic.
Sarah and me shared a funny insight today, we were both in laughters. all about mistaken identity/gender and i finally get to see the person's face! hahaha. hmmmm, huge fan of hers i see. A lil talk about politics in the print industry and how if given sufficient fundings and support from the authorities, mature readers can be developed but most importantly, more voices can be heard. News is not everything. Thus, I salute them and those who really understand.
